Today RMSotheby’s are anouncing this 1962 Ferrari 268 SP chassis 0798 for their upcoming auction in Monterey.
RM says this is one of six mid-engine sports prototypes and only one of two originally delivered with a V8.
It was used by S.p.A. Ferrari SEFAC for the 24 Hours of Le Mans with drivers Giancarlo Baghetti at Ludovico Scarfotti.
At Le Mans 0798 did not finish due to gearbox problems and it was subsequently sold to Luigi Chinetti of NART and used stateside in the 1964 SCCA D Modified Championship.
By 1969 it joined the famous Mas du Clos collection in France where it resided until 1996.
In more recent times Bernie Carl has shown at prominent events and included in his stable which includes Ferrari GTO 3387GT.
